Remember When You Bought Your First Car?

My first car which I purchased was a 1977 White 4-Speed Toyota Corolla.  It wasn’t the nicest looking vehicle anyone has ever seen.  As a matter of fact, it was what people today would call a “hoopty” or “jalopy”.  As soon as I made the purchase, I headed over to AutoZone to cover the steering column, replace the side mirrors, buy seat covers, and styled it up with the double windshield blades.  My taste in style has since changed.  It was ugly to say the least, but it was mine!

You have a Beautiful Dealership…Now what?

You have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to build or beautify your dealership.  Your advertising budget equals or exceeds that amount.  Your inventory has been posted online, and there are plenty of choices for potential customers to make a great selection.  CSI scores have never been higher at the dealership than they are right now!

So why are your salespeople standing around wondering why there are not any customers to sell a vehicle to?  Is there grumbling going on in the…

The Cocoon- The key to Completing your Professional Development

Back in my home country of Jamaica, at certain times of the year the caterpillars would go through the evolution process where they would conceal themselves in cocoons to be transformed into beautiful butterflies. During the final stage of this process, they would break the tip of the cocoon and squeeze themselves through a tiny h*** and fly away. One year my friends and I found some of some dead on the ground because they were not able to pull themselves out of their shells. So, in our…

The Importance of implementing quantifiable strategies to produce sustainable results – Everything else is just feedback

I have a saying that goes something like this, ‘What you cannot define you cannot measure; what you cannot measure you cannot reproduce; what you cannot reproduce, you cannot control or manage.’ I came up with this quote while designing the K-Method Systems & Processes to explain why most salespeople and the businesses that they work for are continually at odds when it comes to expectations and the results being produced. What I have come to realize as the ‘norm’ for most people is that…

Dealer Elite: The Automotive Industry’s Medicine Cabinet for Dealership Cuts, Colds and Headaches

I had an elementary school teacher who claimed that there are no dumb questions other than the question not asked, because you never know who might also have the same question and need an answer but lacks the courage to ask.  With all the great information available on sites like Dealer Elite, why do so many resist the temptation to take advantage of free tips, advice and road maps towards success?

Auto Dealerships: Is Your Customer’s Information Really Secure?

Ever since the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) passed the Safeguards Rule, customer information security has been a hot topic over the past several years for auto dealerships.   The FTC mandates that auto dealerships have a formal, written, and revisable program specifying the steps taken to protect customer’s personal information and prevent unauthorized use of such information.  The three objectives needed in a Customer Information Security Program are:

  1. Secure and insure the…

The Customer Experience - Pay Attention!

In today’s competitive marketplace we must place our focus on the most important part of the business which is our customer. In my position travel is a must and exposes me to the differences companies place on the customer. The airlines are a prime example when hot meals have been replaced with a small bag of pretzels and a cup of soda. Seats are crammed together with long lines to be processed into the aircraft. Customers complain of lost luggage and poor service as prices soar into the…

Yahoo! Local has created an algorithm to gather content from local blogs, newspapers and local retailers to create another great opportunity for Auto Dealers. Social Media Index for Dealerships

Social Media Index for Dealerships

A great Social Media Campaign for Automotive Dealers requires a bunch of essential components. There’s more to a Social Media Campaign than to have your dealership’s profile created on a billion networking sites. After reviewing a bunch of Social Media Index results for dealerships across the country I’m starting to see what separates great Social Media Campaigns from mediocre ones.

Mobile Marketing for Car Dealers

Mobile Marketing for Car Dealers

Mobile Marketing comes in many forms and each can be beneficial to your Car Dealership. Text Message Marketing (also known as Short Message Service Marketing or SMS Marketing), Mobile Websites and Smartphone

Apps are the three dominate forms that Mobile Marketing comes in.

Considering 85% of Americans own a cell phone, while only 80% have a

land line, it seems that Mobile Marketing is worth looking into.

Mixing Up Your Automotive Marketing on Facebook

Automotive Marketing on Facebook creates the possibility to build relationships in your local community. We say that “Facebook is a cocktail party” and urge dealerships treat it as such. It is important to build the number of likes that your public page has, but that doesn’t

mean that you have to do it on your own.

Creating social relationships with other businesses such as restaurants, not-for-profits, colleges and other local businesses and…
