Are You Getting What You Should From Your Dealer Twenty Group?By Pete Grimm, Management Performance Groups, Inc.First, if you do not participate in a twenty group, I would strongly urge you to find one that fits your needs. NADA, NCM, my company, Management Performance Groups (“MPG”) and some others offer a variety of groups, divided by function, size and franchise. For those who have never experienced one, a twenty group is a group of geographically non-competing dealers who come together…See More

Arthur Ashe, Muhammed Ali, Elvis Presley and Free Booze

It was 1966. A group of West Point cadets was taking a PE class, volleying tennis balls on the courts in the south east corner of The Plain, opposite the old stone library. A skinny, black second lieutenant moved among them offering words of encouragement…

Step Two of the Sale Combines Two Paths

Qualification and the Needs Analysis

Here is another excerpt from a course I teach to beginning salespeople. I think some sales managers out there might find it useful.

The second step of the sale combines…

The "Holy Grail" of Sales

I started some advice for Nancy Simmons in another section and it grew into a story I think some of you might find interesting.

Nancy is developing tailored CRM software for a client. I had the opportunity to do the same thing for my own dealership twenty years ago. Here's my advice and story to her:

At the point at which a prospect is willing to identify themselves to a dealership as a prospect they become HOT prospects, all of them. They may be saying I'm not currently in the…

I'm not a hunter either and don't own a gun. I don't see the sport in it.

Jamies place IS amazing.

It would be a pleasure to get together. I may be on Maui for a while in December.

Jamie and Shane Pierre just returned from a 6 week safari. I can't even imagine a 30 square mile wildlife reserve.

Very smart move Pete.

When Jack Carroll had it I reconnected with one of the sales managers there. I had been in the Army with him. We met while stationed at Fort Lewis. Don't know if he was a holdover from your staff or not. His name is Jamie Everist.

I went to Harris from Pierre Ford when Jamie purchased that store from Dick Olinger. In the first 30 days there with everything remaining the same except for myself and one other guy from University Ford we installed Shopper Stopper and beat their best in history gross record by over $400,000.00.

This month Harris Ford will deliver 400 units.

Harris Ford ended up with the franchise.

Absolutely Pete.

In the early 70's my wife and I were good friends of Jack Maxwells daughter. I think you bought the store from him. Am I right?
