Dear Google:
You amaze and confound us daily. You have created an infrastructure, tools and resources for accessing and organizing information that the majority of people and businesses all over the world rely on every day. That is truly awe-inspiring. You are pulling search, social and reviews together in envelope-pushing ways.
Nevertheless, change and innovation are rarely universally embraced as you have experienced first hand. As the old saying goes – you can…

If you’ve seen AMC’s Breaking Bad, you already know about the radical transformation of Walter White, a chemistry teacher who turned into a drug kingpin when he found out about his terminal cancer. You already know about last season’s epic chess match between Walt and Gus Fring, a respected restauranteur who used his business savvy to front an extremely successful methamphetamine…

Something has to give. Change is mandatory in our industry, reinvention a must! Every day I see what people are posting about dealerships all over the web. Let's face it, as a whole people hate us. Strong words I know but just look at how our customers are treated. It's not that they are being treated bad in most cases, but…

Training a new team of managers can be a daunting task. Get it right and you set your organization up for success for years to come. Spring Cleaning? Ya, me too. If you haven’t taken a look at your work area lately, step back and take it all in.
See that pile of papers on your desk? And those spare parts you were saving for the factory in the corner…how long have they been there? What’s up with that chair with the padding falling out? Are you saving that for someone special?
Hey, this is not limited to the Service Managers office. There are many GM’s and DP’s offices that look pretty darn close to that…

Todays Turbo Charged Dealer World Blog is a core training element that should be visited over and over again. Probably something we all know, but just great to keep in the "top of mind" awareness section of the brain.

It is spring time in the North East. Beautiful weather and time to really enjoy the selling season. I enjoy this time because it give us a renewed energy and fire to market and brand our cars. A dealership I consult for has a nice used inventory. We put some signs on the sides of the cars and as I walked the lot I noticed that we had a 4x4 pick up truck quad cab and a nice one, a little older but really nice. It had a huge 24X48 graphic on it that said $269.00 a month. I thought…

In today’s economic environment the division between success and failure is as clear as it’s ever been. Having the right people, processes and products are essential for a dealership to be competitive. Being a single-point, family-owned business is no longer a unique proposition for consumers in today’s automotive climate. To stand apart from its competition, a…

Fearful of the Boogie Man, my 4 year old daughter asked me to escort her into the garage so she could get a soda. As we approached the door leading into the garage, I opened the door and stopped. Sensing I was still with her, she opted not to turn on the garage light and waded into the darkness in search of the refrigerator. Once she realized I was not with her, she…

How many times has your owner or manager announced "Changes are going to be made in regards to ....".
What do the faces of your team look like? Scared? Resigned? Amused?
Instituting change in your company is not an easy thing. It takes time, strategy and a commitment from all involved. It especially takes discipline from the top leaders to keep everyone…

Digital Efficiency, to me, means getting the most from your digital marketing and digital advertising efforts (dollars). To get the "most", I see a glaring need for the recognition and maximization of Digital Assets. Digital Assets? Digital Parts, Pieces and Flow of the same. This post addresses Digital Flow Efficiency.
Recently, while attending a Digital Marketing training seminar, an interesting observation was pointed out. What happens on your website once a lead…

Most recently there has been a bold new wave washing over the automotive dealership landscape. Beginning with TrueCar, whose CEO bragged about using data to eliminate dealerships and lower profits below True Cost. He arrogantly taunted us with claims of "Transparency" which has become the "Buzz Word" of every vendor using our own data to virtually put us out of business, to steal our customers information, and sell it, pass it on to their affiliate companies, and otherwise resell it to…

I get that 2% is a nice market share and that True Car will grow this year. But I read an article yesterday that also states that they only accounted for 2% of the market share. I own a direct mail company and I bet if we did some numbers we would find out that direct mail accounted for 5% plus of the market sales last year. (I wish we could get that kind of publicity) True Car is Advertising and we are giving them a ton of publicity and a lot of our time and energy for a 2% share and a…

About a year ago, I stopped messing around with the occasional work out and and the I "think" I eat well program. I went crazy, 6 days a week of workouts, eating lots and lots of chicken, rice, and fish, protein shakes, and loads of supplements to include, Ginko, fish oil, borage oil, flaxseed oil, massive antioxidants, etc... Bottom line is that I am looking forward to 2012 now and feel I am in the zone. I feel awesome. Might look like 100 bucks but I feel like a million...lol Never been…

I am hearing a lot of discussion about True Car and ZAG. I continually scratch my head and wonder if desperate dealers are doing the marketing limbo "How Low Can You Go?"
Are we so bad at what we do that we have to line up and pay vendors to lose money? AND, who is giving these…
