R U a Noun or Verb Christian?

What is your faith like...is it a noun, a thing, or a verb, something in action to which others might point and remark there is something "different" about you.

This is not an academic exercise. There is nothing that Jesus preached or His apostles wrote about faith and following Christ that is not verb-oriented. Yes, faith itself is a noun, but as James says, faith without works is dead. Please do not read this to mean works = salvation. Scripture is very clear that salvation is by faith alone.

So, what do we mean by being a Verb Christian? Is it attending church or tithing or donating time and money to charity...or taking care of an elder relative? These are all good things we all should do, if presented with the opportunity. Church attendance by itself simply says the individual attends church -- it reveals nothing about their changed heart, their obedience to Christ's commands or their submission of their ego/themselves/stuff/TV/sport/business to God and to others (especially their spouse).

I have been through trials and tribulations the past 2 years. As a born again christian I was attacked and hit rock bottom. What the enemy has taken away he has to repay 10x.. In the past 6 months I have been blessed with a child and an incredible wife...The Glory is his and his alone..It's important to that we put him first in our life "It's much easier"
We must stay away from idolatry wether it be a JOB or $. I found out the hard way only to get back and follow back in his foot-steps.. Looking forward to the future and not looking back..

I look forward to the future discussions

All the best

If you know someone locked in pain of the past from abuse, neglect, anger, addiction and sin, is their failure to forgive their transgressors (or their failure to know their need to forgive) what keeps them stuck, and keeps them from God's forgiveness? We can throw all the therapy and drugs to these problems we want, but isn't the root often unforgiveness? Where and how is unforgivenessness (even from years back) eating away at your peace and your ability to manifest the fruits of the spirit as you could and should?

Witnessed to a client today; talked to his shame and guilt about his temptations and shared God's plan for healing such ulcers. Seed planted.

When burden comes on your heart for whatever reason, what scripture is most meaningful to you to bring you back into fellowship with God? I like Psalm 94:18,19

I'd definitely like to hear the ideas as I think it's important to pass these on to equip others.

My son and daughter inlaw are full time ministers with Campus Crusade for Christ in San Luis Obispo, CA. They have over 700+ college kids at their weekly meeting (amazing) and they get them there by working a student at a time through various sharing opportunities (e.g. similar to Jim L speaking with this man recently to starting a Bible Study....of which they have over 60 going now). Of the numerous ideas they have in how to share Christ, one I thought was great is that they have a BBQ in an area of town which has numerous party goers from the local college (Cal State SLO) and they serve FREE JESUS BURGERS. The kids come and get a free Jesus Burger and while eating them, the students share Christ. I was at one of their meetings a few weeks ago and heard a testimony from one of these students who got saved by this event....what his life was like before....and now after. It is unbelievable of what their ministry is accomplishing. They have many other great ideas of how to share your faith with others.....if interested, I can pass along other ideas that work very well.

Here is a song I wrote in 99
Hope you enjoy it.

A long long time ago God sent his chariot low
and got a saint that was dear to me She's in heaven I know.

And I've often wondered if she could see
Down through the clouds could she see me?
And before now when my time was gone
Will I be with her or will she stand alone?

Will my mother be hugging me or will I cry?
Will I be standing with her in the sky?
There's two roads to travel and it's time to choose
If I take the wrong road....I lose

And when it's my time to go
God send your Chariot low
Take me to that city of gold
I'll be in heaven I know

And my children will wonder if I can look down
Down through the clouds and see them stumbling around
And before now when their time is gone
Will they meet me there or will I stand all alone

Will I be hugging them or will they cry
Will they be standing with me in the sky
There's two roads to travel and they must choose
If they take the wrong road......We all lose

Jim -- That is a great idea. In fact, at my Small Group bible study last night part of the homework had been to write down our testimony so we could share it in a few minutes with others. Yes, the what I was like then, what happened to me, and what I am like in Christ today is a powerful and really simply message we all can feel comfortable sharing -- and we don't have to have a lot of doctrine to explain. Great comment, Jim.

In our Men's group last night, we talked about simplicity in sharing Christ. Many in the group are shy about sharing Christ because they feel ill-equipped in being able to 'intelligently' share a 'case for Christ'. One of the guys took down all those walls by encouraging each of us to simply share how God has been working in and blessing our lives. Keep it simple and share experiences from our hearts. That makes it real and avoids the 'religiosity' that can create walls for some.
