R U a Noun or Verb Christian?

What is your faith like...is it a noun, a thing, or a verb, something in action to which others might point and remark there is something "different" about you.

This is not an academic exercise. There is nothing that Jesus preached or His apostles wrote about faith and following Christ that is not verb-oriented. Yes, faith itself is a noun, but as James says, faith without works is dead. Please do not read this to mean works = salvation. Scripture is very clear that salvation is by faith alone.

So, what do we mean by being a Verb Christian? Is it attending church or tithing or donating time and money to charity...or taking care of an elder relative? These are all good things we all should do, if presented with the opportunity. Church attendance by itself simply says the individual attends church -- it reveals nothing about their changed heart, their obedience to Christ's commands or their submission of their ego/themselves/stuff/TV/sport/business to God and to others (especially their spouse).

Post from yesterday was how do we show our good works in Christ -- Eph 2:10. Today coming out of a building a man was smoking by a pillar and I engaged him in conversation. A self-described 'burned out by catholic school' I steered the conversation toward the simplicity and beauty of God's message -- his desire to have a relationship with us -- that is what seeking God means, and while he stated that he believed in God "but not religion" we talked about seeking God and believing in Christ and pursuing a Godly live not religion but having a right relationship, a healthy relationship with God. I challenged him in a mild way to see that the answer to all the questions still lingering within him he would eventually find if he gave God a shot. I invited him to a bible study I teach in that building for senior citizens. Now shall someone come along and water and another give the increase. Share how you are spreading the gospel at work or where you play or where you happened to be at any momen.

What kind of world would this be if everyone's heart had the peace of Christ ruling in it. I'm sure glad my days are blessed with His peace. Praise God!

"Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him."

Colossians 3 15-17, NIV.

Wow, Jim, how funny that you shared the fruit of the Spirit. I was just working through that this morning. It's a great way to start one's day.

I'm going to Digital Dealer in Orlando next month. Anyone else? Perhaps we arrange a time to get together.

Hey Brothers,
I am excited to see this Christ-focused group within the business environment. Glad to be locking arm in arm with you. May we be a source of inspiration, encouragement and hope, especially in this challenged economy.
Looking forward to getting to know you.
Blessings,
Jim
