What is your faith like...is it a noun, a thing, or a verb, something in action to which others might point and remark there is something "different" about you.
This is not an academic exercise. There is nothing that Jesus preached or His apostles wrote about faith and following Christ that is not verb-oriented. Yes, faith itself is a noun, but as James says, faith without works is dead. Please do not read this to mean works = salvation. Scripture is very clear that salvation is by faith alone.
So, what do we mean by being a Verb Christian? Is it attending church or tithing or donating time and money to charity...or taking care of an elder relative? These are all good things we all should do, if presented with the opportunity. Church attendance by itself simply says the individual attends church -- it reveals nothing about their changed heart, their obedience to Christ's commands or their submission of their ego/themselves/stuff/TV/sport/business to God and to others (especially their spouse).

Hey, Anna, I like the way you think! God's bigger than our reputations and any of our blunders! Sounds like when Paul was writing the Philippians (Phil 1:12-18), how he said that even the fact that he was in prison helped promote the gospel. It allowed others to preach the gospel some "out of eny and rivalry but others out of goodwill." He said the important thing was that "in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice." We can stand some discomfort/ridicule knowing that Christ is being preached, right?
Jim, thanks for sharing on meditation. Our church small group is going to study "The Celebration of Discipline," by Richard Foster. I read the book long ago and started to read it again. The first chapter is on meditation and I have been trying to practice it, including meditation on the scriptures. Must be what the Spirit is saying to the churches!
Great discussion topic! I think this prediction got a lot of people thinking and delving into the Word. I feel like there were many people brought closer to God and their path in Him because of it. I don't know if his prediction was self-serving or not but I think it has helped solidify what I believe. I think am more confident in my biblical knowledgeable and it has opened many doors for me to share my faith. If this saved one person, it was worth a little embarrassment.
Thank you for sharing this Donna!
This is a really cool article about how the gospel is spreading in London's financial community: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/business/analysis-and-features/go...
